A few years ago, if someone had suggested that a lawyer simulator would become one of the most popular hand-held gaming series around, then I'd have likely laughed in their oddly misshapen face. That was before Phoenix Wright burst onto the scene.

First appearing on the Gameboy Advance in Japan, before making a western debut on the DS, the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney titles saw the titular hero investigating cases, and ensuring that his clients didn't wrongly end up behind bars through cross examining witnesses and presenting evidence. While to many that may sound particularly dull, the level of enjoyment, mixed with hilarious dialogue and the odd dash of surrealism ensured that this was not the case.
So here we have the latest Ace Attorney title, where it seems as though Phoenix has decided to give the law business a little rest. In his place is the appropriately named Apollo Justice, a rookie lawyer who just so happens to be defending a client accused of murder in his very first trial. And who should that client be, but one Mr. Phoenix Wright!
Yes, much like Wright himself began his legal career by defending a good friend of his accused of a crime he didn't commit, so Justice has to acquit his predecessor in the game's opening tutorial case. That's not the end of Wright's involvement however, as he'll regularly turn up at points during the chapters of the game that follow.
