Kororinpa
Madness with Marbles? It might just catch on...
Released just a few short months after the Wii console that it's exclusive too, and with a name that's impossible to say without sounding like you're chewing on a toffee, Kororinpa is a fine example of casual gaming. Cute, fun and addictive, it's the kind of title that lends itself to quick play, but can also keep you glued to the screen for a fair while.
The basic idea is similar to games like Marble Madness or Super Monkey Ball. Your aim is to get a marble (these come in several different designs) through a maze, collecting flags along the way, until you reach the goal at the other end. However, it's not actually the marble that you're moving, rather the maze itself.
By moving the Wii remote around, you will tip and tilt the maze levels, causing the marble to start rolling about in accordance with your movements. Of course, you do need to be careful in your movements, as falling off the edge will see you transported right back to the very start of the maze.
The marbles, while all roughly the same size, come with several different patterns on them, and many run at various different speeds, which can make them easier or harder to keep track off when they're being rolled around. Only a handful are available to begin with, but as you start to complete levels and grab bonuses, you'll earn more. The design range from sporting shapes like Soccer Balls, to animals and insects, like pigs, pandas and ladybirds. Some will even make little noises as they roll around the maze!
