Infinite Undiscovery

Warnings in games are often important; driving games reminding us to drive sensibly in real life, Survival Horror titles inform that there will be blood and gore on show. For some reason, Infinite Undiscovery feels the need to inform us that the game is a work of fiction. Well, thank goodness for that, as I was beginning to get severely worried that villains really were putting chains around the world to ensnare the moon and bring monsters and disease...

This action-based RPG from Square-Enix puts you in the role of Capell, a young, somewhat cowardly boy who happens to bear an uncanny resemblance to a brave hero known as Lord Sigmund. Both enemies and allies seem to be under the impression that Capell is Sigmund, but he vehemently denies it. Could it be that he simply is Sigmund, and has lost his memory? Well, no, it can't, because the two look-a-likes meet up before long.

They may look alike, but Sigmund seems to be the only one wearing a hairband and a dress,

IU uses a real-time combat system, allowing you to attack and defend at your own will, rather than be restricted by a turn based system. The only character that you have full control over in battle(at any time, in fact) is Capell. Using the A button dishes out a quick attack, while B gives a power move. Chaining these buttons together will perform combos that can earn extra experience points, as well as health, attack and magic points too. If you need to be healed, holding the Y button will call for this (or you can do it yourself, more on that shortly).

Other members in your party will attack independently, although you can set tactics as to how they conduct themselves. You will also need to call upon them for help, connecting with them to use their specialist moves in situations. For example, you will need to use the arrows of your first ally Aya to blow up explosive barrels and strike critical hits on unsuspecting enemies. Your allies will continue to battle until Capell puts away his weapon. It can be frustrating when you try to attack and realise you've forgotten to take it out again though!

Rico and Rucha are useful allies and snappy dressers too!

Your menu is also handled in real time, so if you want to change armour, equip a weapon, or use a healing (or any kind of) item, you'll have to do so while the action continues. Therefore, it's not a good idea to go rifling through the menus in the middle of a battle, as it leaves you vulnerable to attack.
